Mrs Mapetla, a trained economist by profession, was born and spent her formative years in the Eastern Cape and is formidably proficient in all eleven official languages of South Africa. Mrs Mapetla attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Economics from the Economics Institute in Colorado, and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Ball Street University in Indiana. She has successfully completed the degree of Master of Business Administration from the De Montfort Graduate School of Business in Leicester, United Kingdom. During Mrs. Mapetla’s extensive working career she has occupied diverse authoritative positions in both the public and private sectors. She is a valued and highly-regarded member of a number of boards. She serves as the Chairperson on Khula Enterprise Finance Limited and the Estate Agents Board and is a member of the Advisory Council and Human Resource Committee of the University of South Africa, and the National Black Economic Empowerment Commission as well as a panelist and judge of the SABC3 / Shoprite Checkers South African Woman of the Year. Despite her active professional life Mrs. Mapetla is happily married with three children. Her wealth of talent, experience, hands-on expertise and knowledge will be an asset to an already impressive board. Mrs. Nomonde Mapetla will be one of the four representatives of the non-banking industry on the eight-member board. Mrs. Mapetla replaces the esteemed Mr. Helm van Zijl the retiring Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance. |
