Doris has been a practicing attorney for more than 20 years specializing in constitutional and administrative law, legislative drafting, media and communication law, commercial law, competition law and employment law with a wide range of public and private sector clients, including statutory bodies, government at both national, provincial and local tiers and various non-governmental clients.
Doris was centrally involved in the drafting of a number of legislations, including: Liquor Amendment Bill, Use of Official Languages Act and its draft Regulations, Special Economic Zones Act and its Regulations, Standards legislation for the Department of Trade and Industry, Gauteng Shared Service Agency Bill, Regulations in terms of the Media Development and Diversity Agency Act, 2002, Further Education and Training Bill, 2003 for the Gauteng Department of Education, including regulations in terms of this Bill, Code of conduct for governing bodies of public schools in Gauteng.
Furthermore, Doris provided advice on various labour legislation, including the Employment Equity Act, Labour Relations Act, and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, including drafting various human resources policies including terms and conditions of employment, HIV/AIDS policies, electronic communications policies and grievance and disciplinary policies.
Doris was also intricately involved in the establishment of the Media Development and Diversity Agency, including advising it on various corporate governance policies and agreements with various funders.
